Sensor Characterization (optional)
Image sensor characterization helps detect camera module defects in the early stages.
The problem could originate from a few easily testable factors, such as the IR cutoff filter not fulfilling it’s purpose: RGB non-linearity, blemish due to dust trapped in the lens stack, VCM
ringing etc. All such problems would limit sensor module performance and thus affect
final product image quality.
Basic tuning and functionality check
During this phase, system functionality verification is performed. Functionality tests include RAW.
Capture capability, tuning parameters are applied correctly inside the system, and verification of the sensor, module drivers and 3A statistics. Also, system vs. PC simulator testing is performed to evaluate if any difference limits system tuning with the simulator.
Objective (Technical) Image Quality Verification:
Objective (basic) tuning is done in a fully equipped lab in order to meet the client’s criteria or
to pass specific certifications (Teams, Skype, Zoom, etc.) and to find the best fit
solutions.
Perform all standard technical measurements supported by Imates, the IE IQ Analyzer, or customer software.
Subjective Image Quality Verification:
Comprehensive real-life testing covers a thorough variation of use cases and light conditions.
Tests are performed side by side with reference cameras and evaluated based on our image quality.
Our verification, comments, and conclusions are presented in detailed reports at the end of each phase.
